Frequently Asked Questions

 What instruments do you support?

Any instruments will work once you have the right equipment. Check out “What do I need to start jamming” below for more information.

What do I need to start jamming?

To get started, you will need a computer with our Jolt software downloaded, a digital audio interface (we recommend the M-Audio Air 192|4), a good wifi connection, and your instrument.

If you have ever recorded music with your computer, you probably already have the right setup to use Jolt. No experience? No problem. Once you create your account, Jolt will mail you the equipment necessary.

You’ll also receive step-by-step instructions as well as 24/7 access to our setup crew if you have any questions. Once your equipment arrives, you'll be set up to jam in less than 10 minutes.

Note: the equipment you need may differ based on your instrument type.

What is a digital audio interface?

  • A digital audio interface captures your instrumental or vocal audio (which is technically "analog" audio) and converts it into "digital" audio so that your computer can understand and process. The result will be high-quality audio that is processed super fast (so that you don’t have “latency” or lag issues when playing together.)

  • If you don’t already have an audio interface that you use for home recording, we will send you the appropriate equipment once you sign up.

Can I buy my own digital audio interface?

Zedecho supplies you with a cost-friendly and quality option. However, you are free to use your desired brand if you so choose. We have 24/7 live support to help you with any questions during setup of our product or your own.

What do you mean when you say “low-latency”?

“Low latency” refers to the sound delay - this is a core component to playing music remotely and in unison.

How do we achieve low-latency?

Zedecho is live but not real-time. This means that players will all hear the same sound after a short, fixed amount of time. This allows you to jam synchronized with people all over the world without any lag between participants.

What level of skill do I need to jam?

Beginners, intermediate, and expert-level players alike can all jam. We utilize an algorithm to match players of similar skill-levels and musical interests.

Can I play with my current band?

Yes! Zedecho allows you to create private jam sessions and invite your friends. We also offer public jam sessions where you can match with other musicians with similar skill levels and interests from the Jolt user base.
